dj -> band changeover times

i realize this response is to a 3-year-old review (and maybe MM's familiar w/a different source), but on THIS source:
you can definitely hear sammy & magner by ~12:30 (maybe earlier), they start out sparsely & subtly. barber comes in swinging at ~17:30. i'm not sure when exactly brownstein takes over the bassline, but he's definitely there by the 27-minute mark (so we DO agree on that one!), and i can't definitively hear him playing before that.
the fact that it's so hard to tell means it was an extremely smooth & patient transition. and that's only ONE great thing about this amazing akira improv.

Best BISCO Preformance.
This is by far the Best Bisco i have ever listened to. this set is straight ragin' from the first few minutes, up until the huge Basis for a Day peak at the end. once you listen to the infamous Akira Jam you while realize that your life is complete and you can die at peace. this Set is just that good. you will not be dissapointed by downloading it

THIS.
Stuff like this is precisely why I go to the archive. Only one question---were I to put this on the stereo and put Akira on the TV, about where would I start the film so as to match what happened that night?

very sweet download
very sweet! great sound, great playing, GREAT CONCEPT... if that doesn't warrant a 5, then I dont know what does... maybe I am a little sloooowwww, but does anyone know about exactly when the first member comes in? all that techno is very cool, good dj and all, but i want to try and edit out that and just have the jam... any help would be grand... and if it forces you to listen for the first time... you'll be happy.

What a way to kick off the new millennium...
BEST. SET. EVER.
Simply put, this is the single best improvised set in music I have heard. I'm sure this would cause debate for some, but for anyone who has listened to this set, I highly doubt it. For one thing, the concept of improvising a new score to a film is pretty unheard of, and certainly was NYE 1999. Secondly, to do it to Japanese anime certainly fits the Biscuits' sound extremely well...it's conceptually elegant, ferocious, and surreal. Mindblowing is an understatement.
Furthermore, this is THE source for this jam. This is the most complete source of the set, for one, since Madigan was the only taper to start his rig mid-DJ, so you can slowly hear each member of the band come out and play. Secondly, what Rich Steele has done with these tapes is awe-inspiring. Madigan's tapes sounded decent to start (though I preferred the AKGs), but Rich used the clearer bass of John's tapes to his advantage and cleared out some of the muddle for fine-tuning.
While only a well-synched DVD could ever even hope to translate the show experience to the home environment, I hope these tapes exhibit to you why the Disco Biscuits are a band unlike any other.
